Your Appear evidence.Your AI assistant.

Bring your saved AI answers, citation sources and Agent Pages into the conversation. Choose how you work, then follow the steps or hand your agent a setup prompt.

You need an Appear account with assistant access enabled and access to a Site. Check your access in Appear

Read-only access. Your assistant can inspect saved evidence, but cannot start measurements, change your data or publish pages.

ChatGPT plugin

Use Appear inside your ChatGPT conversations.

  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins and search for Appear. Choose the plugin if it is available to your account.
  2. Install and connect it. Sign into your existing Appear account, review the read-only access, and select Allow read access.
  3. Select Continue to return to ChatGPT. Start a new chat, select the Appear plugin, and choose the Site you want to investigate.
Open ChatGPT Plugins

The connection follows your Appear permissions across the Sites you can access, including Sites you join later.

If the ChatGPT plugin is not available

In ChatGPT Plugins, choose Add custom MCP server. Use the name Appear evidence, paste the server URL below, and choose OAuth. Availability depends on your ChatGPT account and workspace.

MCP server URL

https://app.joinappear.com/api/mcp

ChatGPT plugin

Help me connect Appear to ChatGPT. Open https://chatgpt.com/plugins and search for Appear. If the plugin is available, guide me through installing and connecting it. Otherwise, help me add a custom MCP server named Appear evidence with https://app.joinappear.com/api/mcp and OAuth. Let me complete sign-in and approve read access. Do not ask me to paste tokens or passwords into chat. Once connected, list the Sites I can access and ask which one to use. Confirm success by reading saved evidence for that Site. Do not change anything.

MCP

Connect Codex or another assistant with remote MCP support.

  1. Add a Streamable HTTP MCP server using the URL below. For Codex, run the setup command in your terminal.
  2. Use OAuth to connect. Sign into Appear, review the read-only access, then continue back to your assistant. Codex returns to a local address on your computer.
  3. Start a fresh session if your client needs one to load the tools. Ask it to list your Sites, then choose the one you want to use.

MCP server URL

https://app.joinappear.com/api/mcp

Codex setup command

codex mcp add appear --url https://app.joinappear.com/api/mcp
Open Appear access settings

The Codex command shown here is tested. Other clients must support remote MCP and OAuth; their setup screens may differ.

MCP

Connect my assistant to the Appear MCP server at https://app.joinappear.com/api/mcp using Streamable HTTP and OAuth. If I am using Codex, use: codex mcp add appear --url https://app.joinappear.com/api/mcp. Preserve my other MCP servers. Let me complete Appear sign-in and approve read-only access, then finish the return to the requesting app. Do not put credentials in chat or configuration files. Discover the read tools, list the Sites I can access, and ask me to choose one. Read its saved evidence to verify the connection. Use the standalone appear server for this check, and do not change any data.

WebMCP

Let your browser agent work with the Appear tab you have open.

  1. Open Appear in a browser and agent that support WebMCP. This flow is tested in the Codex in-app browser.
  2. Sign in and select a Site in Console. Appear makes its read tools available on Site pages automatically; there is no MCP server to install.
  3. Ask your browser agent to use the WebMCP tools on that tab. The Site in the page is the Site it reads.
Open Appear Console

Switching Sites updates the browser tools. Leaving the Site pages removes them. If your browser reports WebMCP is unsupported, use the ChatGPT or MCP connection instead.

WebMCP

Open https://app.joinappear.com/ in a WebMCP-compatible browser. If using Codex, use its in-app browser. Let me sign in and choose a Site. Read the available WebMCP tool definitions for that tab, then use them to read the selected Site and one saved Query answer. Use the Site selected in the page, not a different Site. If the browser does not expose WebMCP, tell me and stop rather than pretending it is connected. Do not change any data.

Try your first investigation

Once connected, use this prompt to get a dated observation and a useful next step.

Try your first investigation

Use my Appear evidence to help me decide what to improve next. Confirm the Site with me, read its latest saved measurement and active Queries, then inspect one original AI answer and its sources. Read a linked Agent Page if the evidence provides that relationship. Give me one observation, one clearly labelled hypothesis, and one practical next step. Include the measurement date and links back to Appear. Distinguish a mention from a citation, and missing data from zero. Use saved evidence only; do not start work or change anything.

Before you connect

What can my assistant read?

The Sites your account can access, their latest saved measurement attempt, saved Queries and original AI answers, citation sources, and stored Agent Pages. Each request checks your current Appear permissions.

Will this run new measurements or edit my site?

No. These connections read saved evidence. Your assistant can suggest a next step, but it cannot create Queries, run measurements, edit content, approve pages or publish through these tools.

What if I cannot see my Site or connect?

Check that you are signed into the correct Appear account and have access to the Site. If Appear says assistant connections are not enabled, contact your Appear team. A connection does not grant extra Site permissions.

How do I disconnect?

Open Assistant access in Appear and select Disconnect for the connection. For WebMCP, leaving the Site pages removes the page tools; signing out ends the browser session.

Start with the evidence you already have.

Connect your assistant, choose a Site, and turn a saved answer into a focused next step.
