Part-time Designer

Help Appear look and feel like the premium infrastructure company we are building.

Appear is AI visibility infrastructure for websites. The product is technical, the category is crowded, and the bar for how we show up visually is high.

We need a designer who can help us sharpen brand identity across marketing, sales materials, and product surfaces without turning everything into generic SaaS template land.

What you’d work on

  • Brand identity: typography, color, layout rules, and visual language that feels distinct and credible
  • Marketing site polish: landing pages, case studies, audit/proposal surfaces, and campaign assets
  • Product UI support: dashboards, reports, and customer-facing flows that need calmer hierarchy and better data density
  • Templates and systems: reusable patterns so the team can ship consistent work without redesigning from scratch every time

Must-haves

  • Strong visual taste and editorial judgment. You can tell when something looks cheap, templated, or “too AI”
  • Experience shaping brand systems for a startup or agency client, not just one-off mockups
  • Comfort working async with founders and operators. You take a brief, make a call, and show work early
  • Portfolio with real shipped work: websites, brand systems, decks, or product UI you can point to

Nice to have

  • B2B SaaS or infrastructure branding experience
  • Motion or scroll-based marketing page direction
  • Figma fluency and handoff discipline for engineering

Engagement

Part-time contract to start, with room to grow if there is strong fit and ongoing work. Remote, flexible hours. Toronto, SF, or Barcelona time zones are a plus but not required.

How to apply

Submit the application with:

  • A brand or visual system you’re proud of
  • How you think about brand identity for a technical B2B company
  • What you would focus on in your first 30 days at Appear

Include a portfolio or work samples link. Resume optional if your portfolio tells the story.
